Gaming! Who’s it for?

Hello! This is my inaugural post for Expanding Your Gaming World! Thanks for checking the page out and I hope you enjoy a little of my insight in the gaming world.

So tell me, have you ever played a video game? I feel that a big majority of you would say yes. Maybe some of you, no, but by the definition of a video game almost everyone has! According to Webster-Merriam Dictionary a video game is an electronic game in which players control images on a video screen. You don’t have to own an Xbox, Playstation, Switch or any other video game console to play video games. Anyone who has played a game on their phone, who has played solitaire on a computer, who has played a handheld poker game, and even anyone who has played a slot machine (that has a screen) has played video games!!! Video games can potentially be for everyone. There are endless options of games to play and something that can relate to just about everyone. That is the purpose of this blog, to introduce or expand your library of games from different genres and platforms, as well as to show you how video games can create a positive impact in your life.

Do you remember the first game you played? Maybe it was snake on a small Nokia track phone. How about the big bulky Mattel handheld Monopoly game? Candy Rush for some of you who are younger. And maybe some of you are like me and had your start waaaaaaaay back in the early 90s with Nintendo and SEGA systems. Heck, maybe some people who are reading this are shaking their heads at me saying, ‘In my day we played Pong on the Atari and only had one knob on the controller!’

Super Mario World

I remember some of my first gaming moments though. I remember playing a lot of Super Mario World on the Super Nintendo when I was 4 years old. We even have one of those old fashion home-videos of me showing off my Yoshi skills (Yoshi is the best btw). One day we even found the second Star World secret and mom let us stay up all night trying to beat the levels. I was the youngest sibling and I remember playing the system when my brothers were at school and then getting kicked-off because I “had it all day” (which I totally didn’t…). Truth be told, to this day, Super Mario World is one of my all-time favorite games. It was the first one I beat on my own and I was proud of it. I’m smiling just thinking and typing about these memories. But I think that’s enough time spent down memory lane today.

Home video goodness

I have not lived just one life, but a thousand through games. I cannot wait to share those experiences with you all. I hope that you all will share gaming moments and memories with me and that this blog will help you find games to create many more.

    1. That’s something I really like about games, the sense of accomplishment! It may not seem like a lot to some, but to everyone who played that game, they knew you achieved greatness!! Crossovers are also awesome and I plan on doing a blog over just that soon!

  2. Your Mom and I were “those” that played Pong with only one knob on the controller. And, we played on a 13″ B&W television. Great start to your blog! Very proud of you!

    1. Gaming sure has changed over the years, but it really took off with the introduction of Pong on the Atari for home-play. And thank you! I’m looking forward to just putting some thoughts down!

    1. Mario Kart 64 is one of my all-time favorites for sure! I own every version of Mario Kart that Nintendo has made and I like to joke that my fiancé no longer will play against me 🙂 It’s hard not to love many of the Nintendo classic titles! I’ll definitely be talking about some of them in the future. Who’s your favorite racer in Mario Kart? (Mine’s gotta be Yoshi or Shy Guy!!)
